Grateful to SAMVICs I read about your anger in the Guardian, Money. I feel this too. In November 1998 I was paid by Barclays SAM the sum of Ł75.000, a quarter of the value of my house at the time (Ł280.000). The value has now risen to approx. Ł400,000 or even Ł450.000. This means that I have to find the original Ł75.000 plus three quarters of the appreciation i.e. Ł90.000 (say, house value at Ł400.000) a total of Ł165.000 (not a bad profit for them over 4 and a half years!). I am now retired and aged 63. Yes, it would be difficult to move under these circumstances. I would like to be part of your action campaign. Thank you so very much. |
