Dear victims of Lloyd's
SAFE was created to fight bank fraud, but did not initially realize that many of its early members had borrowed/re-mortgaged in order to satisfy their ongoing liabilities to Lloyd’s of London. However, we soon realised that these core members were but just a few of the 30,000 Names, who had fallen victim by joining Lloyd’s, thereby justifying its own group within SAFE.

Furthermore, representation of ALL Lloyd’s victims was essential. However, we did not realise just how zealous certain ‘ex-Lloyd’s Names’ were to protect their position within their own group, some refusing to join a single macro group, which would enable SAFE to arrange parliamentary representation of ALL the disenfranchised Names to Parliament, Treasury, Serious Fraud Office alike. Nevertheless, SAFE remains convinced that a unified representation of ALL Names is essential if negotiations are to be successful. We have, therefore, carried on quietly behind the scenes on behalf of those who had registered directly with SAFE, initiating;-

  • Meetings in Parliament.
  • For Lord Ahmed, (Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group, (APPG), to which SAFE is the Secretariat), to lay a Prayer before the House of Lords for the annulment of SI 2005 No. 1998, (the SI having been ‘lain on the table’ when the House rose for the summer recess), the Prayer once lodged was on the list for two days, then mysteriously disappeared. Governmental intervention? (See www.safe-online.org SIN/Lloyd’s Names section).
  • Meetings with the Treasury Ministers and others, to put down our marker but we need to show that we represent a significant proportion of the disenfranchised Names.
  • Representation of the Names complaint to the Serious Fraud Office. See website).

It has become blatantly obvious to us that the ‘Establishment’ is singularly protective of Lloyd’s. We know from our decades of experience that the Crown protects the illusion of integrity of it’s franchisees, British banks’, Financial Institutions and the Square Mile at any cost, (see The Prayer of thanks for Money on our website and the video on the National Irish Bank).

As the result of various meetings, some overseas with top attorneys with experience of the Lloyd’s problem, and Names’ victims from all over the world, SAFE has set in motion a plan, the objective of which is to make the Names contracts unenforceable, to benefit the thousands of all those registered with SAFE. In order to maintain the integrity of the plan, total confidentiality is essential, and at this juncture we cannot divulge any details, other than its code name called ‘Check Mate’.

For the benefit of those without access to the Internet let us briefly explain, SAFE. SAFE stands for Struggle Against Financial Exploitation Limited, and is a company limited by guarantee, set up in 2003, following a decade of confrontation with Banks, endeavouring to get equity and justice for those from whom they had, with impunity, stolen vast sums of money, (See Gallery at www.safe-online.org). Therefore the SAFE team has built up extraordinary knowledge in this field. However, when the APPG was formed it had to be broader than just against the ‘Banks’ so it became the, “All Party Parliamentary Group Against Financial Exploitation”. Since when, it has become involved with the widest spectrum of financial casualties, as a consequence of which it has found itself exposed to judicial chicanery. The objective of SAFE is to change this financial/judicial environment to help all victims and prevent future casualties. We do not act for individuals.

Not being specialists in every field, we have set up sub groups, SAFE (SAM’s) for the Shared Appreciation Mortgage victims, and SAFE International Names Group, (SING) for those casualties of Lloyds. The interface with the casualties is with those with experience and knowledge of the problem, being casualties themselves, but supported by the specialised knowledge and Parliamentary connections of SAFE. Many Lloyd’s Names are also SAM’s victims. All the Committee members are currently voluntary, but the workload is now becoming overwhelming, so some form of recompense is envisaged in the future.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

REGISTER WITH SAFE

We need registered members to build our data base of fraud upon which our presentations to our MPs is based and also to expand the number of MPs’ aligned to us. Furthermore, you will need to be registered so that upon consummation of Check Mate, you will be informed in writing of the methodology to void your Lloyd’s contract, and receive any recompense.

WRITE TO YOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT

Although SAFE is a non-political group, to get the attention of Parliament, we need numbers, both member victims, and of course, MP’s. You may have already written to your own MP to explain your situation, but if you have not, please do so – and all of you please send copies of the correspondence to SAFE.

WEBSITE AND E-MAILS

To enable SAFE to communicate with you more quickly, and cheaply, please advise us of your email address - if you do not have one, perhaps a family member or friend can be a MAIL BOX for you. So please send your email details to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will respond.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

Although victims of horrendous bank fraud themselves, SAFE’s Directors have and continue to personally fund all its activities, which so far has cost tens of thousands of pounds. The expense of running an office, travel to meetings in Westminster and abroad, legal advice, computer maintenance, designing and setting up the website, and so on, this mail shot will be expensive (which is why we need your email address.)

Because of the progress SAFE has made and continues to make, further funding is vital to enable it to continue and the operation’s finances must be kept on a firm footing. It is some time since we all paid our initial subscriptions and the SING sub-committee now requests that individual members (or families) should make a further donation of – at least – £50 to help the ongoing work, preferably by the end of JUNE. Please make cheques payable to SAFE and send them to the office, with your registration form if you have not already done so. The committee also recognises that some may find even this sum difficult, in which circumstances we would welcome a token payment, even by instalments. Rest assured that your subscriptions will be identified and used to bring about an equitable settlement for SING members, and give the victims of Lloyds something to ‘SING’ about.!

Yours sincerely,
Robert Owen
Director of SAFE
